When I think of ethics, I think of what is right and wrong. What is the ethical thing to do in any situation? Ethics comes up all the time in everyday living. Being a religious man, I think of what Jesus would do. What would be the right way to handle things and what would be the wrong way to go about solving a problem.
I thought about what I might write about for this paper. I could deal with many topics. In the end, I decided to write about Dog Parks. This may seem to you to be something of little importance, yet there are rules to be followed when one is . Rules such as no dogs under the age of 6 months, and all dogs must be fixed. You must be in eye site of your dog at all times. You must be able to control you dog, no chock collars. In addition, the most important rule in my opinion is that you are to clean up after your dog. Most dog parks provide small poop bags at the entrance for your convenience. Dog owners are expected to take one of these bags and clean up after their dog. I have noticed there is always someone who feels the need to ignore this rule.
When a person decides to have a dog, they should be aware of the ethics involved in taking care of their pet. Pets do not take care of themselves. Dogs do not use the same facilities the people use. A dog owner needs to heir dog to go potty outside. Owners need to train their dogs to sit, stay, and not to bite. Owners need to be aware of the things their dog just cannot do for themselves. When I bring my dog Moose to the dog park, I always pick up after him. He cannot do it himself. There are lots of times when people do not clean up after their dogs. Dogs do what dogs do.
Knowing that if I did not go and find the mess someone or a dog would step in it. The smell would then be tracked into the house. Therefore, I got a bag and started to look for it. When I finally found it, it was on my shoe. Crap I had stepped in it. I would have to clean off my shoes before going into my house. I know that I did the right thing by not approaching the offender. I also know that it was right to pick up after her dog, regardless of that way I had found it. I feel that it was unethical of her to let her dog run wild in a public dog park.
